Introduction

The database contains bibliographic records of documents about Ropes and Ropeways in several languages, such as journal articles, books, reports, standard specifications, prospects, communications, patent specifications, grey literature (e.g. unpublished reports), but not confidential documents.

The database represents only the most important part (more than 5'000 documents) of a collection of files, which has been created over several decades at the earlier Institute of Ropeways at ETH Zürich ( the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich) by the ropeway engineer Mladen Roth. Since August 2007 the collection is on permanent loan at the Ropeways Competence Center of the Seilbahnen Schweiz (SBS) federation in Meiringen. The documents that are not recorded (about 10'000) can be studied there and copied if necessary. The data are structured according to a spezialized system of 170 keywords.

The database can be search by means of keywords, author, publication year, journal, language. The user can order via internet a copy of the full text or borrow a book, respectively.

Attention: if a document has more than 30 pages to be copied, the customer will be asked to confirm his copy order.
